During the weekend of 5–7 September, the capital of Greater Poland will become the most important spot on the triathlon map of our country. Athletes will once again, just like 31 years ago, begin their race in Kiekrz.

The sporting excitement, however, will already start on Friday evening – 5 September. At 22:00, participants of the Night Run Poznań will set off. The five-kilometer route will lead along Grunwaldzka, Przybyszewskiego, and Bukowska streets, with the start and finish located at the Poznań International Fair. As a result, between 21:30 and 23:00, Grunwaldzka and Bukowska streets (from Roosevelt Street to Przybyszewskiego Street) as well as Przybyszewskiego Street (eastbound lane towards Jeżyce, between Grunwaldzka and Bukowska) will be closed to traffic. On the crossing streets, traffic gates will be set up, allowing cars to pass across the course under the supervision of security services.

Sunday is the main event of the weekend – Enea 5150 Triathlon and Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań. At 8:00 in the morning, the first athletes competing at the Olympic distance will begin their triathlon in Kiekrz. At 9:30, participants of Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań will enter the waters of Lake Kierskie. Their challenge will be 1.9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling, and 21.1 km of running.

The Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań will last until 18:30 at the latest, when the final triathlete is expected to cross the finish line at the Poznań International Fair. The bike course of Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań runs through the municipalities of Tarnowo Podgórne, Dopiewo, Buk, and Duszniki. Sections of regional roads 306 and 307 will be temporarily closed to traffic. Traffic disruptions on the Buk – Duszniki – Wilczyna road are expected between 9:00 and 14:30. Additionally, between 7:00 and 12:00, traffic will be suspended on Chojnicka – Podjazdowa – Kierska – Sadowa streets in Kiekrz, Kobylnicka – Lusowska streets in Sady, and Poznańska – Nowa – Zakrzewska streets in Lusowo.

In Poznań, Bukowska Street will be closed to traffic between 7:00 and 15:30. Detailed information about planned changes to public transportation during Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań can be found on the website www.ztm.poznan.pl

Special Navigation and Hotline

To make life easier for residents and drivers, a number of information measures will be introduced. Along the race course, yellow information boards have already been placed for several days, showing the dates and times of closures for each section. Drivers can also use the free Waze navigation app, which will take into account road closures related to the event when planning routes. In addition, a special hotline will be available at +48 500 261 000, where you can get detailed information and advice on detours during the race. The hotline will be available at the following times:

  • Friday, 5 September: 20:00 – 23:00
  • Saturday, 6 September: 10:00 – 20:00
  • Sunday, 7 September: 7:00 – 17:00

Where to Park?

In Kiekrz, the start location for both triathlon distances, athletes will have access to a parking lot on Chojnicka Street (the former police training center).
The parking is already open and offers about 90 spaces. It is free of charge and an ideal solution for athletes who do not want to use the trains on Saturday and prefer to deliver their bikes to Transition Zone T1 by car. Parking location link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/W45GgbrzKgDgpEw17

On Sunday, access to this parking will be more difficult, as the road leading to Chojnicka Street at Słupska will be blocked. Anyone wishing to get to the Poznań International Fair grounds can use the underground car park at PeWuKa Square, with entry from Głogowska Street. This parking is paid.

Where to Cheer?

Loud support for athletes in both distances is welcome along all race courses. However, those who want to be close to the finish line and focus on the run course will also have the chance to take part in the city game. To join, you need to collect special maps from the information point. Then, you must collect stamps at each of the three marked spots, and finally return with the complete set to the information point to claim your prize.

Athletes competing in Sunday’s triathlon can benefit from the organizers’ tips and guidelines included in the online briefing available on the IRONMAN Poland channel on YouTube.pl
